Power Line Contact
If a Machine hits a Power Line:
- Stay in the machine.
- Immediately stop the machine.
- Shift to neutral, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine.
- Call for help.
- Remain in the machine until someone outside, determines where the lines are.
Prevention
- Be aware of where power lines are while you are working.
- Be attentive of missing wires, or wires that are hanging lower as this could be an indication that wires are on the ground.
- Be aware of barriers beneath power lines, warning signs, and visibility spheres on the lines.
- When approaching power lines, be aware of the height of your vehicle and if unsure of your ability to safely go underneath, get out of your vehicle and check.
