Head Protection
Head Protection is necessary when
- There is a possibility of objects to fall from above
- Possibility of accidentally coming into contact with electrical hazards
- Chance of hitting your head on something
Hard Hats
- Designed to resist penetration, absorb shock, and resist water.
- Class A
Protects from impacts, penetration, and limited voltage protection for up to 2,200 volts. - Class B
High voltage shock and burn protection for up to 20,000 volts, as well as providing protection from impacts and penetration. - Class C
Offers limited impact protection but does not protect against electricity. - Bump Hats
Offers protection against bumps and lacerations. - Never drill holes in a hard hat.
- Inspect for holes, cracks, and other damage on hard hats before each use.
- Always wear a hard hat with the bill forward.
Hard Hat Requirements
- Hard outer shell Shock-absorbing lining with a headband that suspends the shell 2 ½ to 3 ¼ centimetres away from the head
- A label inside the shell that states the manufacturer, the ANSI designation, and the class of the hat.
Stickers
- The area of a hard hat should be kept sticker free in order to inspect the hard hat regularly.
- Stickers should be placed a minimum of ¾” away from the edge of the hard hat to reduce conductivity.
