Chain Sling Inspection
**Only qualified personnel should alter and repair chain slings.**
Chain slings should be removed from service when:
- Slings have cracks, deformed links, or other components.
- The chain size is less than what is required on any part of any link.
- Hooks have been opened over 25% of the normal opening.
- Hooks have been twisted more than 10° from the plane of the unbent hook.
- Hooks must have safety latches in good operating condition.
- One must immediately fix damaged hooks, or take them out of service.
**All chains must be regularly inspected to ensure safety.**
